GI JOE RISE OF COBRA and RETALIATION 4K Review

I have to say that I was never a fan of the GI JOE films. I’ve yet to watch Snake Eyes.

These films arrive on 4K4K this week. The second film looks great, but they are very skimpy on special features.

I’m sad to say that Rise of Cobra does not hold up. In fact it’s quite bad. I know you should never discount a second film just because of the first.

If it weren’t for The Rock and a bit of Bruce Willis, GI JOE Retaliation would not have been good in the slightest. If John M Chu and The Rock had not signed off, I could see the second film being direct to video.

Channing Tatum just can’t hold the lead of a feature film. Marlon Wayan’s as comic relief is actually more enjoyable.

There is one sequence in Rise of Cobra that does hot on all cylinders. The action of the action sequences in Paris is the only redeeming factor of the film.

Retaliation looks and sounds so much better than Rise of Cobra. It’s got great leads, a director who’s great at action, and a decent story, and you’ve got Retaliation.

Starring Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Sienna Miller, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rachel Nichols and Ray Park, as well as veteran actors Dennis Quaid and Christopher Eccleston, G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA follows a top-secret elite strike force featuring the best operatives from around the globe.  After a high-tech secret weapon is stolen by a mysterious and evil organization known as COBRA, it’s a race against time for the G.I. JOE team to avoid their enemy from plunging the world into chaos.

Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum and Bruce Willis star in the explosive global hit G.I. JOE: RETALIATION.  The G.I. JOE team has been set up to take the fall for a terrible crime they didn’t commit.  Now, ROADBLOCK, DUKE, and the rest of the team must once again face their mortal enemy COBRA, as well as dangerous new threats operating within the government. When all else fails, one option remains —RETALIATION.
