When I saw that My Fair Lady, I knew that I had to review it. This film will always have a special place in my heart.
My parents were huge fan of musicals. I remember watching TCM with my parents and my dad was able to say the lines verbatim.
I believe that he was involved in a production of this play while in high school. Regardless, it was cool to hear him knowing all of the words.
There were certain movies that were large than life when they were released. People were excited to see this beloved stage production on the big screen.
The songs are the star of the show, but the costuming and production are the foundation of the film. Without beautiful set pieces and consumption, this would not have been as big of a hit.
This beloved adaptation of the Broadway stage hit stars, Audrey Hepburn, as Eliza Doolittle, a sassy, working-class London street vendor, and Rex Harrison as the elitist Professor Higgins, who attempts to turn Eliza into a sophisticated lady through proper tutoring. But, when the humble flower girl blossoms into the toast of London society, her teacher may have a lesson or two to learn himself.
Come for the show, but you will want to stick around for the special features.
If you’re looking for the best picture and sound quality that this film has ever been seen in, then the 4K release is a must-own.
The 4K Ultra HD release has better look good because of the 8K film transfer. That is washer will make the colors pop and your speakers rumble.
The rumbling is brought on by the fact that this disc has an English 7.1 Dolby TrueHD. The 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo also includes access to a digital copy of the film and more than two hours of previously released bonus content that you can learn more about below.
