Half Baked is arriving on Blu-ray on June 22. I recently had the chance to watch this Blu with the directors commentary on. If you’ve seen a movie multiple times, I can’t recommend watching the film with audio commentary and check out the other special features.
Directed by Tamra Davis, Half Baked stars Dave Chappelle, Jim Breuer, Harland Williams, Guillermo Diaz, Clarence Williams III, and Rachel True.
Half Baked was on repeat when I was in school. There’s so many memorable moments in this film. It would not be the same without the cast.
Dave Chappelle is great. I would love to see him on the big screen again. Jim Breuer is iconic in Half Baked. He plays the quintessential stoner.
Watching him in college, he was extremely hilarious to me. Watching it today, I feel Breuer is way over the top. This is not a problem so I don’t have an issue with the film.
Harland Williams has one of the most memorable scenes, and for a reason. The scene where he ends up killing a police horse goes down as an all time great.
Diaz is also one of my favorites. The scene where he quits his job. This quick bit is super funny to me. This is likely due to my love of the F word.
Clarence Williams III is the most debonair villains I’ve seen on screen to date. His voice is what puts him over the edge for me.
The cameo spots are never ending. Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson are my favorite.
They’ll do anything to save their best bud! Comedy legend Dave Chappelle (TV’s Chappelle’s Show) stars in this hilarious adventure of three lovable potheads, Thurgood Jenkins (Chappelle), Brian (Jim Breuer, TV’s Saturday Night Live) and Scarface (Guillermo Díaz, High School High), trying to bail their friend (Harland Williams, Rocket Man) out of jail. But just when the guys have mastered a plan, everything comes dangerously close to going up in smoke! Co-written by Chappelle and comedian Neal Brennan (The Female Brain) and directed by Tamra Davis (CB4, Billy Madison), Half Baked is packed with memorable performances by Rachel True (The Craft) as Mary Jane Potman, Clarence Williams III (52 Pick-Up) as the criminal kingpin Samson Simpson and stand-up comedy legend Steven Wright as The Guy on the Couch, with special appearances by Tommy Chong, Snoop Dogg, Jon Stewart, Willie Nelson, Stephen Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Janeane Garofalo and Bob Saget.
Kino Lorber did a great job on this release with the decent amount of special features. I enjoyed the audio commentary.

If you’re a fan of Half Baked, then this is a must own. The special features and the amazing picture are worth the price of this disc.
