Season 3 of the El Rey network acclaimed series FROM DUSK TILL DAWN The Series is out on Blu-ray!

I’m such a huge fan of the film From Dusk Till Dawn that when I heard about a TV series being created based on the first film, I lost my mind. Season 1 of the series followed the original film a bit more closely but it did let a few parts / stories continue differently such as that with Scott Fuller and Sex Machine. It also introduced to us new characters that weren’t in the first film at all. Season one gave us a lot more back story to these characters that we knew and expanded on the entire story of those that inhabited the Titty Twister. Season two jumped into a whole new story with the writers expanding more on the characters and the entire mythology of the Culebras, the baddies that Seth and Richie were involved in.

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series Season 3

Season three brought us the worse of the worse in the series. This time there was something stronger and more evil than the Culebras, and because of certain events in season two which were caused in part by Seth and Richie they both had to get rid of the problem. Seth didn’t like the idea of having to be involved with them but because of his brother Richie, he stuck around. Seth and Richie formed a small team to deal with the problem and tried to save the Culebras from becoming slaves to the evil Amaru which if you saw season two, Amaru ended up taking over the body of Kate. So this was also a double whammy for Seth and Richie since it’s there fault that Kate (and Scott) ended up in the state they are in.

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series Season 3

Season three brought in a lot more action, more bites, and introduced a lot more of the mythology which is something I’m a fan of. We also got new characters and a guest star which was a treat! If you look closely, a few scenes had some Easter eggs from film. The process of getting to more about the characters continued, and I especially loved Kate/Amaru. Season three become a focus of Amaru and it was great to see that entire story involved in the 10 episodes that we were given. There were points where I felt bad for Seth because you saw him struggling with the fact that he had to keep reminding himself that his brother is a Culebra and that poor Kate had turned into a bad ass demon who was hell bent on bringing the world to its knees.

Season three finished up by tying it all together and giving a proper ending. There is no word if a fourth season will happen as of yet but if it doesn’t, we are not left hanging with any questions about any of these characters. So if you’re worried about investing your time in this series / 30 episodes don’t worry, you get an ending. I love the movie and I enjoyed this series a ton. Season three especially had me screaming at my TV and there hasn’t been much in the way of TV series that has me doing that. If you are a fan of the movie, I definitely recommend you give the series a shot. The season three blu-ray release also gives fans some great bonus features such as cast and crew commentaries, trailers, deleted scene, and some background on a few of the monsters of Xibalba like Itzpa (Llorona).

Season three on Blu-ray is out already and you can pick up season one and season two as well.

Season three of “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series,” based on Robert Rodriguez’s original film, follows Seth and Richie as they continue to fight their way through the chilling world of culebras, the vampire-snake hybrids that control hidden empires in Texas and Mexico.  Once the baddest outlaws in the land, the Gecko brothers made a run for the Border two years ago to save their lives — and their fortune.  After stumbling into a bar full of bloodsuckers and bandits, they encountered the vampire goddess Santánico, joining her cause to settle an old score, and it won them a place in the culebra world.  Now that world is on the verge of violent and destructive explosion as new enemies hell-bent on domination gather to take them down.  But, in typical Gecko fashion, Seth and Richie assemble an unlikely crew (some new, some old) to take on the forces of hell.

Season three features a returning ensemble cast including D.J. Cotrona (Dear John, G.I. Joe: Retaliation), Zane Holtz (Holes, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Eiza González, Jesse Garcia, Madison Davenport, Brandon Soo Hoo, Emily Rios and Jake Busey. New cast joining the third season are: Ana de la Reguera (“Jane the Virgin”, “Narcos”) who will have a recurring role as Lord Venganza Verdugo, one of the seven remaining culebra Lords; Marko Zaror (“Machete Kills”) as Zolo, an Aztec warrior trained in Hell; Tom Savini (“Friday the 13th”, “From Dusk Till Dawn”) as Burt, a retired demon hunter who smokes more medical marijuana than he sells; Maurice Compte (“Breaking Bad”, “Narcos”) as Brasa, a mysterious Rasputin-like figure who takes on the Gecko brothers; and Nicky Whelan (“House of Lies”, “The Wedding Ringer”).
