Where Have You Seen Chief Hopper From STRANGER THINGS Before?

It happens a lot. We are watching a TV show or a movie and we think to ourselves, “wait! What have I seen this actor or actress in before?” Then, while marveling at their talent, we head on over to IMDb and check to see who the person is and what they’ve been in and we find out that we’ve nearly seen everything they’ve been in. There are a lot of actors and actresses in the business who constantly work, might even get nominated for awards, but they don’t seem to become someone everyone talks about constantly. They are in the always growing list of highly underrated actors and actresses who are brilliant, but don’t get the love they should be getting.

So let us talk about the guy who plays the awesome Chief Jim Hopper in the incredible new Netflix show Stranger Things. David Harbour’s been in the business for quite some time and chances are you’ve seen a lot of his work. He’s an awesome character actor who always delivers 2000% to each role he takes on. He’s even been nominated for a Tony. Yeah, he’s a theater guy too. He’s been in several theater productions like: Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Coast of Utopia, The Merchant of Venice and has been in shows like: The Newsroom, State of Affairs, Manhattan, Rake, Pan Am, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order. He’s also been in films like: Black Mass, The Equalizer, A Walk Among the Tombstones, Snitch, End of Watch, W.E, Revolutionary Road, Quantum of Solace, War of the Worlds and Brokeback Mountain. After reading all that you’re probably thinking, “OH!!!” See, you’ve seen something he’s been in.

Stranger Things, which everyone should definitely watch, has given him the leading role he deserves. At first, you might feel a little iffy with this character, but once you learn more about him, he grows on you and he becomes a hero. There are so many interesting layers to this character. Chief Hopper has this Han Solo/Indiana Jones like quality to him and you can’t help but cheer him on throughout the whole series. Also, it helps that David Harbour poured his heart into this character and made us all ugly cry with the last episode. From episode 1 to the last, while drinking his coffee and contemplating, he grabs our attention and we are taken on a helluva journey. So many actors have that role that they were destined to play and this is his role! He’s also a really humble and nice dude who takes the time to talk to his fans on Twitter!

So join me and many people all over the world and watch Stranger Things and marvel in his very awards worthy performance. And here’s to all the underrated actors and actresses out there getting awesome roles like this one.
