So guys, “what’s eating you?”

JEEPERS CREEPERS and JEEPERS CREEPERS 2 makes their way to blu-ray by the horror-ific folks at Scream Factory!

JEEPERS CREEPERS is the story of siblings Darry and Trish,  on a road trip who nearly get knocked off the side of the middle of nowhere road by some beat up truck that I’m shocked still works. When they catch a glimpse of it a few miles down the road, they see a guy holding what looks like  wrapped body by an abandoned church because all good things happen at churches. After another run in with the truck and just barely escaping, Darry decides he wants to go back to the church and see what is going on. Again, nothing good happens at an abandoned church. Darry ends up discovering something gruesome but the siblings are discovered and spend the rest of the movie trying not to get caught by the strange man.

Jeepers Creepers

I actually watched Jeepers Creepers when it first came out and I highly enjoyed it. It has all the ingredients for my favorite kind of horror film – disgusting person, young adults making stupid choices, great sound design, and a whole lot of bodies nailed, glued, stitched to the wall. I mean, what more can you ask for?

Jeepers Creepers 2

Also out on blu-ray is the sequel to this amazing film, JEEPERS CREEPERS 2. This film was original released in 2003 with the first film being released in 2001 but it takes place three days after the events of the first film. This time you get to see more of The Creeper / random guy and get to have more of a semi backstory which isn’t a lot but really, you don’t need more than that.

The film revolves around the story of a father who lost his son to The Creeper and is on a mission to kill him while The Creeper torments a group of high school students whose bus breaks down in the middle of nowhere road. (note to self: don’t drive on those roads.) The students have to now survive the horrific man is picking them off one by one with no help in sight. They also realize that the monster is being selective and because this a bus full of teenagers, they start fighting each other while this thing is trying to eat them.

Jeepers Creepers 2

I still enjoyed the film but of course like all movies with sequels, the first one was better. The story line with the teens and the Creeper was good but the side story with the father out for revenge felt off. Anytime he came on, I tuned out which sucked because towards the end he of course plays a big part against The Creeper and the remaining students. I also wasn’t a fan of the ending but that’s just me. The ending worked into the whole story where he wakes up every 23 years to feed and during the events of both films, he was at a time limit before he went back to bed. If you liked the first one, the sequel is worth seeing and if you can over look the father story, then buy it on blu-ray!

Both blu-rays have been updated audio wise because I feel, at least for the first one, the sounds coming out of the movie makes it. Hearing the cat meows, the water drips, the scratching noises, it’s all part of the experience. It’s a great step up from the blu-ray but it doesn’t look like they messed with the original film print. Some horror films need to keep that film print feel.

They also included a lot of extra features with Jeepers Creepers 2 having the bulk of them. Audio commentaries are great and they both include tracks with the film stars and director. They also include theatrical trailers which I love watching especially from horror films and deleted scenes with the first film having an extended scene and alternative ending and opening.
