Some of the Best Superhero Video Games Contain Mutants

If you’re a big fan of comic books and superheroes, you are probably enjoying their pop culture renaissance. Theaters and television networks are now flooded with these characters, and this surge is not showing any signs of slowing down. And while watching the good guys fight the bad guys is certainly fun, it’s a little one-sided. Ever watch something and feel as though you’d like to get in there and mix things up? You probably shouldn’t don a cape and seek out evildoers (basically, don’t follow in Kick-Ass’ footsteps), but you do have another option: video games.

For many years, and particularly over the last several, there have been tons of games featuring superheroes. And the best part is that it’s not just the well-known guys who are getting in on the action. No matter who you like, you can probably find him or her in a video game. For example, in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, you can play nearly 200 different characters. Familiar guys like Hulk and Spider-Man are there of course, but there are tons more you may not expect, such as Vision and Iron Skull.

Some of the best games in recent years have starred everybody’s favorite mutants, the X-Men. While there have been some hits and misses, as discussed at Paste Magazine, when an X-Men game is good, it’s really good.

If you are of a certain age, perhaps you remember Konami’s X-Men arcade game. This still stands as one of the all-time greats regardless of genre, and especially one with superheroes. And what about X-Men vs. Street Fighter? In this crazy crossover game, players could pit Rogue, Wolverine, and such against Ryu, Chun-Li, and the Street Fighter crew and play either side. They just don’t make them like that anymore.

Speaking of crossovers, X-Men games have even gone beyond typical fighting fare and have seeped into other areas, especially casino games. Currently there are a number of slots games featuring the X-Men. One of them has 50 lines to play, a variety of bonus features, and progressive jackpots. You can learn more about these fun games on

For another excellent X-Men game, you need to check out X-Men: Days of Future Past. Yes, it has the same name as the movie, but the game is much truer to the comic storyline, says Android Police. In this game, you of course can play Wolverine and Storm, but you also have the option to play characters who do not get a ton of attention, like Colossus and Scarlet Witch. Throughout the game, you can upgrade your powers and even unlock new abilities. Plus, if you’re an X-Men junkie, the game contains a section where you can read all about the X-Men universe.

Can’t wait until X-Men: Apocalypse comes out later this year? In the meantime ,you can play X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, which is another terrific X-Men game. There are a ton of characters and different plots, and you can even play the bad guys if you want.

The X-Men have arguably never been as popular as they are now, which is great news for fans, especially the ones who love seeing them in video games.
