Robbie Amell is returning to the role of Ronnie Raymond on The CW’s The Flash, but there’s a twist. This won’t be the Ronnie we knew from Season 1. He’ll be playing the Ronnie Raymond that hails from Earth-Two instead. However, this particular alternate universe double went down a very different path.

“We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells Entertainment Weekly. “You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm.”

If that statement alone doesn’t convince you, Robbie Amell himself confirmed the little twist on social media.

Robbie Amell-the Flash-Deathstorm

In the comics, Ronnie’s Firestorm was resurrected as Deathstorm during DC’s Blackest Night event. Also in the comics (but unrelated to Blackest Night) Caitlyn Snow eventually becomes Killer Frost. Earlier in 2015, the CW released a promo revealing Danielle Panabaker going bad. The actor herself even gushed on The Talk about how fun she had actually being part of the action. This version of Caitlyn Snow/Killer Frost is from Earth-Two and is still married to Ronnie Raymond/Deathstorm. Together, I can see them as a powerful force to be reckoned with.

The Flash returns Tuesday, January 19 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
