STAR WARS REBELS Recap – “The Future of the Force”

Star Wars Rebels still continuously blows my mind with each and every episode. I honestly never thought my feelings for Rebels would reach this point but ever since the teasers for the first season, I’ve only gotten more and more excited for what this show is to bring. Season one was phenomenal, but season two is phenomenally fantastic and and- I don’t have the time to write down all my feelings as to how this show keeps topping itself. Just know that they’re all good. This week brought us one of the most anticipated episodes of Star Wars Rebels, at least in my eyes, “The Future of the Force”. From NYCC to the teasers, this episode promised to be big and to give us all the feels… turns out it’d do way more than that and basically destroy us emotionally, all while making us stupidly excited for what season two will be bringing and the also making us dread the end of one certain character that we’re sure will be happening soon thanks to Dave Filoni himself. But I digress.

First off, “The Future of the Force” was my favorite episode of all of Star Wars Rebels hands down. This might not be the case for many, but I was a huge fan of The Clone Wars. I was super sad to see The Clone Wars end, but after seeing a certain battle tonight (along with the rest of this season), maybe it was a good thing to say goodbye to that era of Star Wars. I feel weird saying that, but it’s true.

Spoilers ahead!reb_ia_11642_d08975d7“The Future of the Force” brought the crew on another mission, this one brought on by Ahsoka Tano herself. Ahsoka has been monitoring transmissions from Mustafar (!!!) and trying to learn more about the Sith Lord. Coming up short on the Sith Lord’s end, she does figure out that the Inquisitors are on a mysterious mission. She has found two locations as to where they could be and needs the help of a few certain rebels should try and stop them. This brings Kanan, Zeb, Chopper, and Ezra to try and stop the Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister… from stealing babies on the planet Takobo. (Yes, people, I know you’re having a flashback from The Clone Wars!) The Inquisitors are trying their hand at stealing Force sensitive babies. This brings Zeb, Ezra, Kanan, and Chopper to do what they do best and save as many children as they can, most notably a baby Ithorian. (Spoiler: adorable Ithorian is adorable.)reb_ia_11793_b1784cc9While the journey from finding the Ithorian to finding an escape route is intense and full of “edge of your seats” moments, the best part of this episode and what I couldn’t wait to talk about is the end fight scene between Ahsoka, Seventh Sister, and Fifth Brother. I cannot tell you how amazing and well done this scene was. It transitioned between Kanan and Ezra battling the two to Ahsoka taking the Inquisitors head on, which worked really well and was done so well. I just loved every second of this whole fight scene, most notably Ahsoka’s entrance. She’s such a badass and has always been one of my favorite characters, so to see her get the screen time and episode she deserved, made me squee with joy. Also the Seventh Sister is awesome, so to see the two interact together was what made this scene so memorable for me as well.reb_ia_11691_cdace67eI found “The Future of the Force” to be one of the best, if not the greatest, episode of Star Wars Rebels to date. I just found the balance of dark, humor, and action to be equally great and for fans of Ahsoka, I’m sure just that end scene would make this your favorite as well. Basically, please check out this episode! It’s all kinds of amazing and sets up for an even more amazing season.

What was your favorite scene in tonight’s episode of Star Wars Rebels?
