I love origami and getting to make anything geeky is always a plus in my world so when I got the chance to review DC Super Heroes Origami by John Montroll, I just couldn’t say no! I was really excited to try out this book! Check out the book trailer:

It looks like a ton of fun so I couldn’t wait! When it arrived I didn’t realize how thick the book was going to be! The book not only comes with instructions to create your favorite super heroes like Wonder Woman and Batman but it also comes with the origami sheets as well.

The book is broken into three sections: Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, and The Justice League.  There is a mix of things you can create from the Riddler’s cane to Wonder Woman’s invincible plane to Jimmy Olsen’s camera. Each project is rated either one, two, or three stars to let you know the level of difficulty. I decided to create the Daily Planet Building which is listed at level one.

I mentioned earlier that the book comes with origami papers for you to start right away. There are 96 sheets of  illustrated origami papers for you to use!  Of course, once you run out you can use plain ol’ paper and color in what you need.

So how did I do with creating the Daily Planet Building?

Not so bad if I do say so! There were a few times where the instructions had me going “What?” but in the beginning of the book, there is a section that explains each fold. That also tells you that I just jumped right in without really reading it.

Overall, I give this book two thumbs up! If you are a fan of origami and DC Super Heroes, I say get this book. The instructions are great and very understandable, the fold/symbols explanations are great, it includes 46 folding projects, there are projects for every level, you get 96 sheets of illustrated origami papers, and there is also a page explaining what origami is. The book retails for $14.95 and I say it’s worth it!
