Hasbro ‘Monopoly’ Movie Confirmed With Synopsis

Just when you think you’ve seen it all with the film industry, something else comes out of the woodwork to be made into a film. Nothing is safe from being Hollywood…not even Monopoly.

Hasbro announced Wednesday that  Lionsgate and Hasbro Allspark Pictures will produce a film based off the family favorite game. Academy Award-nominated and BAFTA award-winning writer/producer/director Andrew Niccol (“The Truman Show,” “Gattaca,” “The Terminal”) will be writing the screenplay for the film as well.

So I know you’re thinking “What can a movie based off of Monopoly be about? ” and let me tell you the plot of the film sounds…actually really cool.

“The story will center on a boy from Baltic Avenue who uses both Chance and Community in a quest to make his fortune, taking him on a fun, adventure-filled journey. Along the way he will have to make his own luck, while hoping to avoid going directly to jail.” (x)

There is no official word on when the Monopoly film will hit theaters but I am very much interested in seeing the direction they will go with the film.
