They are monstrous, indestructible, angry, and they are here to ruin your summer! The folks at Scream! Factory have another fine double-feature release for you! For the first time on Blu-ray; TENTACLES and REPTILICUS. These creatures will surely make you scared of the water.

I am absolutely loving these double feature movie releases. I am such a huge fan and getting to discover films I haven’t seen yet is a real treat. Like always, Scream! Factory does an amazing job with these Blu-ray releases.

Tentacles SCREAM! Factory

TENTACLES is the story of a small beach town celebrating another swim season. They get a slew of visitors who are ready to relax and have some fun but something decided to crash the party! People have started going missing or found in pieces and the local Sheriff has no idea what is going on. That’s when they discover the underwater monster and it’s up to an all star cast – John Huston, Shelley Winters, Bo Hopkins, and Henry Fonda to fight him off before he completely eats everyone. Tentacles was probably trying to cash in on the success of JAWS – small town, beach, water, eating of people, but this film is nothing like JAWS. So fall into the movie with an open mind and be ready to laugh.

Reptilicus Scream! Factory

REPTILICUS is about a team of miners in some remote place who find an amazing item, the severed tail of some prehistoric creature. Like all disasters waiting to happen, the team decides to take this bloody, gooey, and frozen tail back to civilization so a bunch of scientists can poke and prod at it. And you know what? It gets pissed off and start destroying the town. I bet your asking, “how does a tail start destroying a town?” You gotta watch the movie to find out. The film was released in the 60s and I think they were banking on the Godzilla/Kaiju monster craze. Is it amazing as Godzilla? No, but it’s a damn good time. I thought Reptilicus was cute when he was destroying the (miniature) town.

Again, I am blown away with how well they can restore the films they are releasing considering the source material. I’ve seen some bad transfers but Scream! Factory works with what they got and do their best. TENTACLES is the better of the two in terms of HD transfer. You can see REPTILICUS gave them issues but it’s a damn good job once you factor age, and limited prints availability of a smaller movie.

It terms of the extras included in the disc, unlike The Food Of The Gods / FROGS and Empire Of The Ants / Jaws Of Satan there isn’t much in extras on TENTACLES/REPTILICUS but you do get trailers and that’s a plus for me. I’m always a fan of trailers, and seeing the angle they were selling it.

Do yourself a favor and get this disc, pop some popcorn, and sit down for a good time.

Tentacles Reptilicus Blu-ray

A Creature Double Feature!

It’s angry. It’s hungry. It’s extremely well-armed and it’s descending on a small seaside town to sample the local cuisine! John Huston, Shelley Winters, Bo Hopkins and Henry Fonda do all they can to keep a giant marine menace from turning their sleepy village into a one-stop snack-shop in this fast-paced thriller! Directed by cult director/producer Ovidio G. Assonitis (Beyond The Door, The Visitor, The Curse), Tentacles is a menacing jolt-a-thon that’ll grip you with relentless terror and never let go!

Discover the true meaning of survival of the fittest, as a terrifying creature from the past brings the future to its knees! Packed with thrills, chills and prehistoric spills, Reptilicus proves that “if cats have nine lives, monsters have even more” (Citizen News)! Directed by Sidney W. Pink (writer and producer of the cult films The Angry Red Planet, Pyro), Reptilicus is a spine-chilling creature feature about a cold-blooded 90-foot killer whose time has come… again!
