KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE Spoilers Forum – Now on DVD/Blu-ray!

Colin Firth Kingsman

In honor of the DVD/Blu-ray release of Kingsman: The Secret Service, I re-watched the film and loved it just as much as the first time. Maybe even more, actually. It’s slick, it’s fun, and it’s action-packed.

At Screen Invasion we occasionally do these Spoilers Forums to dig in to the nitty gritty moments that we truly loved. So only read on if you’ve seen the film or don’t care about spoilers at all. If you complain that I ruined something for you, well you’ll get no sympathy here. You’ve been sufficiently warned.

The Church Scene

If this wasn’t your favorite scene in the film then…as the teen girls say…I can’t even. This long take was mesmerizing to behold and you could tell Colin Firth did extensive training to nail every move with skill and fluidity. In my opinion, he’s never been sexier than when he was cracking skulls here. Yes, even more than when he was Mr. Darcy. But maybe that says more about my taste in men than anything.

Anyway, this was balls to the wall insanity. I’m pretty sure I forgot how to breathe for a moment during this fight scene. And then, when it was all over and Colin Firth was the last man standing, we got another major surprise.

Colin Firth’s Shocking Demise

All signs pointed to Colin Firth being the lead in this film. He recruited the young Eggsy, after he had recruited his father years ago. I assumed the entire film would have Colin Firth serving as mentor to Eggsy, with only Eggsy coming in to his own at the very end. While that did happen a bit, Eggsy had to go it alone since Colin Firth met his end just after the amazing Church scene.

While he held his own and came out as the last man standing against all the religious zealots under the anger mind control, he met a quick end at the hand of Samuel L. Jacksons’ lisping Mr. Valentine. Just when you think they’ll have a battle of wits, Valentine just flat out shoots him point blank, not giving him a chance to best him “like those spy movies they both loved.”

The 1% – Obama Included

While the image of Kim Jong Un getting his head blown off started the infamous Sony hack that shook Hollywood, it looks like we Americans are a lot more forgiving of artistic license for the sake of comedy. In the end, we find out Valentine let the 1% and various world leaders in on his diabolical plan for population control. This included world leaders, pop stars, the rich and famous, and key members of the White House, including Mr. Barack Obama himself. How do we know this? Because when Eggsy turns the plan against Valentine by exploding all the implants that were supposed to make the safe, we see a montage of exploding heads across the globe and in the safe room. One of the rooms to experience this? The oval office. While they never say Obama directly, at least not to my knowledge, it’s a very familiar head that goes kaboom in the end.
