Nina Dobrev Is Leaving The Vampire Diaries

Yesterday on her Instagram, Nina Dobrev announced that she would be leaving The Vampire Diaries after her 6 season run.

“I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime” she said.

“I invite you to hop on the roller coaster ride that is Elena Gilbert’s life and join me as I celebrate her and prepare to say goodbye to her — and to my work family — as I move on to the next chapter of my life.”

In 2009 the world was introduced to the television incarnation of The Vampire Diaries. Those of us who had read the book series were thrilled but what we got from the show was so much more. Dobrev popped on the screen as Elena Gilbert. She was the average high school girl who would be love by not one but two vampires and go through a hard life as it happened.

As a long time fan of the show, I will miss Nina. Outside of the show I found her to be caring, lively, and a warm hearted person. Obviously, I didn’t know her but this was just through the peeks of her life she gave us through social media.

While I know nothing lasts forever and we all must say goodbye to our favorite characters at some point, I am still super sad to see her go.

Vampire Diaries fans everywhere were left with one question though: What will season 7 be about? The books and story line in the show thus far have revolved around Elena Gilbert. And with the show being renewed for a seventh season..what will take place?

We The Vampire Diaries wish Nina the best of luck in the future and I know I will be keeping an eye out on any of her future projects.

The Vampire Diaries returns April 16 with 5 more episodes until the season finale May 14.
