MTV Bringing Their Own Version of ‘SCREAM’

mtv-scream-posterMTV is bringing their own version of the classic slasher flick, Scream, and turning it into a television series. The first trailer premiered during the 2015 MTV Movie Awards over the weekend. It features Bella Thorne (Disney’s Shake it Up) kicking the series off as Nina Patterson in a gruesome death scene; she’s essentially the new Drew Barrymore.

Willa Fitzgerald, Amy Forsyth, John Karna, Carlson Young and Amadeus Serafini star in the pilot of the updated horror series, with Jamie Travis (For a Good Time Call and MTV’s Faking It) as the director.

Harvey and Bob Weinstein will executive produce under the Dimension TV production umbrella. Additional executive producers include Wes Craven, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad.

The movie Scream first premiered in 1996, which was directed by Wes Craven and starred Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette. The last installment ended with Scream 4 in 2011, starring Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere among the newest batch of teenagers getting slaughtered.

MTV’s Scream premieres this June 30, 2015.
