Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Afterlife” Recap
Come on, already, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.! We get that Skye is an Inhuman – she’s changed, she’s scared, and she can’t get a handle on her new powers yet. For 4 episodes now it’s been the same old schtick; let’s move on to bigger and better things. After all, this show is not called Marvel’s Inhumans!
As Skye gets whisked away to a place called Afterlife, she is afforded some (MORE!) alone time to come to grips with what she is becoming, except now she is with others who are just like her. But instead of honestly learning more about herself, she again goes the entire episode with not much more information to go along with her new abilities that are still out of control. She did, however, come face to face with her mother: but she doesn’t know that yet, so that scene was fun for us but served no real purpose.
And Coulson is still at odds with the “real” S.H.I.E.L.D. agency that emerged from the ruins of The Winter Soldier. As Coulson continues to struggle to find Skye, the rest of his team that’s left all have their loyalties towards Coulson tested. Agent May is offered a position on the board of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Agent Simmons is forced to try and open Nick Fury‘s “Toolbox” without the help of Fitz. By the episode’s end, however, Simmons pulls one over on everyone and sends the “Toolbox” off with Fitz, who has resigned from Coulson’s team.
This episode was alot of wheel spinning with no real traction, save for FitzSimmons getting back together! Only a few episodes left until the Age Of Ultron debut, and we still have much ground to cover.
