…Again.

If you’re a fan of New Girl like I am, you’ll remember that Coach was only shown in the pilot episode but never showed up again. That’s because Damon was on the show Happy Endings and the schedules conflicted. We, as viewers, got used to the show and didn’t seem to miss Coach at all. THEN he popped back into our lives at the tail end of season 3 only to become a series regular in season 4.

I personally grew to love Coach as a character. Damon Wayans Jr. did a phenomenal job acting and giving us the comedic moments when we needed him.

“I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to come back to New Girl in Season 3 to reprise the role of Coach,” Wayans tells TVLine in an exclusive statement. “Working with this incredibly talented and funny cast and crew has been one of the best experiences of my career.”

Liz Meriwether who is an executive producer on the show says that they’ll be leaving the door open for him to come back in future episodes. Damon is scheduled to finish out the season so don’t expect such an abrupt lack of Coach.

I for one will miss seeing him on my screen every week once he’s gone but as long as we’ve still got Schmidt, all is well!
