ADVENTURE TIME Headed to the Big Screen
Pretty huge news for Adventure Time fans: the massively popular Cartoon Network show is gonna be hitting the big screen (it always seemed like it was going to wind up there eventually) thanks to Warner Bros.
The studio is developing the property for the big screen and they have Chris McKay and Roy Lee signed on to produce. The two also produced The Lego Movie last year, which made $69 million for Warner last year, and $468.7 million worldwide. McKay is directing the upcoming Lego Movie spinoff, The Lego Batman Movie while Lee will produce, and the two also are behind Cartoon Network’s current LEGO hit Ninjago.
Pendleton Ward and Cartoon Network will also have a say on the film– Ward will be involved in writing and production. [Source: Deadline]
This seems to be destined to be amazing. If you’ve been keeping up with the show, you know how cinematic it can get even with only 11 minute episodes. Imagine what they can do with feature length time, especially with the huge universe and mythology they’ve created across six seasons. This is gonna be pretty amazing to see! When we know more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
