Julianne Moore remains the obvious choice for Still Alice, but this is far from over – Chastain, among other potential victors, will push her work in Violent for a leading nomination. Also, don’t count out Amy Adams – the five-time nominee’s performance in Big Eyes looks like Harvey Weinstein’s only legitimate candidate in this category. Best Actor in a Leading Role

Not too long after the apparent confirmation that Christoph Waltz will compete here for Big Eyes, it seems that his time in the film may have been significantly reduced. Does that mean he’ll again compete as a supporting player, or will things change yet again before Tim Burton’s drama screens?

4. Benedict Cumberbatch for The Imitation Game
