The Origin Stories of Gotham City
DC’s ongoing Batman saga has been one of the most successful franchises in modern entertainment, spanning across mediums and generations. Numerous stars have inhabited the roles of heroes and villains who are now household names the world over. FOX’s Gotham is an entirely new story, a prequel to the Batman of comics and film.
Gotham focuses on Detective James Gordon’s first days on Gotham City Police Department. Throughout the season, he meets a young Bruce Wayne and has various run-ins with budding super-villains the Joker, Catwoman, the Riddler, Penguin, and Mr. Freeze, among others. The show promises to be epic and dark. The young Bruce Wayne is introduced to Gordon after Wayne’s parents are savagely murdered in one of the most horrible crimes the city has seen. Gordon’s pursuit of the killer leads him through Gotham’s darkest reaches and the circumstances that turn Bruce into Batman.
Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment come together with a cast featuring Jada Pinkett Smith, Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue to bring you a classic story of good and evil, a new kind of cop drama, and an operatic backstory to some of the world’s greatest characters. The writers and producers have looked to the original comics for their inspiration, creating smart and intricate stories amidst Gotham’s burgeoning menace.
Tune in to Gotham on Fox September 22nd 8/7 C.
