REAL GEEK GIRLS: The Geeky Hostess, Tara Theoharis

The goal of my “Real Geek Girls” series is to show the world that girls truly can be geeky. For some, that seems like an obvious observation, but there’s always that one person, almost always a guy, who will talk about how girls are fake geeks who don’t know what they’re talking. Girls are just doing it look cool and lure in geek guys. They don’t know what it’s all about when it comes to “geek culture” and they’re somehow just there to be admired by geek guys. I’m here to let the world know that girls DO know what we’re talking about. We can be and we ARE just as geeky as the guys. Every now and again, I’ll interview a new geek girl just to highlight how many of us are out there, how real we are all. We come in all shapes and sizes, and love a many number of geeky things. I’m going to show the world that there are real geek girls, and they know as much, if not more, than the somehow more revered geek guy.
Meet The Geeky Hostess Tara Theoharis! She strives on sharing her geeky passions with the world and showing us how to incorporate our geekiness with parties, gift ideas, home decor, recipes, etiquette, fashion, and much much more. I got to interview her and learn more about her and she shared everything she’s working on, and she talks about cupcakes!!!! Check out the interview below:

What does being a geek mean to you?
Being a geek means being willing to get fully, ridiculously excited about the things you love. Geeks research, talk about, and dream about their passions, and aren’t afraid to show how happy it makes them! Anyone can “geek out” about anything–the joy is finding what that passion is for each person.
What’s your take on the whole ‘fake geek girl’ stuff? So many people think girls like to fake being geeks to fit in.
I think this is ridiculous. If you love something, why wouldn’t you want to share it with everyone else? If you meet someone that doesn’t know everything about your hobby or fandom, but they’re excited about it, take them under your wing and teach them! Don’t just discredit them as “fake.”
Talk about THE GEEKY HOSTESS and what kind of articles we can expect to see on the blog.
The Geeky Hostess is all about incorporating your geeky passions into your everyday life, specifically through parties and recipes. I love creating premiere parties, themed dinner parties, or board game nights, and want to share that love! You can find these articles, as well as some fun lifestyle posts from me at www.geekyhostess.com.
You’re a producer of JOB HUNTERS, tell us a little about it.
Job Hunters is a dystopian comedy. In the Job Hunters world, after college, you’re put into an arena to fight from 9 to 5 in hopes of getting selected for a job. When not in the arena, you’re in a mandatory safe house, living with those you normally fight. We follow a group of these “job hunters” through their experience. We’re currently releasing our second season, and things get pretty crazy! You can see it at youtube.com/watchjobhunters.
If you were stranded on a beautiful island and could only have three things with you…what would those three things be? (Can be anything!)
-lip balm. I don’t go anywhere without it, and the beautiful island may have a harsh sun!
-Are there books on what vegetation is poisonous and what’s safe to eat? I’d probably need one of those. I want to experiment with the local “produce” without killing myself!
-And finally, if I can truly bring anything, I’d bring my laptop with a magic charger/wifi device. Because I’m always on the thing.
You’re a cupcake maker, what’s your favorite cupcake recipe? Do you know any cool geeky cupcake recipes?
Is there anything you are working on right now that we can look forward too?
What’s your advice to all the geeky girls out there who feel embarrassed to be geeky?
