GameInvasion Podcast – Episode 22 – It’s The Little Things

On this week’s episode of GameInvasion, the gang talks about the annoyances that video games can’t seem to get past, like excessive handholding, dumb locked doors, stupid cutscenes, pointless objective markers, and lackluster NPC’s who feel more like driftwood than people. We also add a whole slew of other annoying bullcrap that haunts the gaming netherworld brought on a combination of limited resources, developer ignorance, or bowing to our lowest common denominators.

Be prepared for some triple-A insightful commentary about elements of video game plots, mechanics, and characters that simply need to stop existing. For example, there’s a 5-10 second cutscene of your character jumping down from a road, or kicking open a door, or breaching a door, or unlocking a door, or staring at a door with a plasma shotgun in your hand, and you can’t proceed because you don’t have the blue key. The main criminals are things that rip us out of the immersion of gameplay and remind us that we’re Playing A Game.
