Geek & Sundry Lounge Returns to SDCC
One of my favorite things about San Diego Comic-Con is how it turns the entire downtown area into a giant geek-themed amusement park. Sure, the panels are amazing, but you can often find the true spirit of the Con in its offsite events, and one of the best is coming back for another year.
Geek & Sundry – a digital entertainment company launched three years ago by Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton – has confirmed the return of its popular lounge in the Gaslamp District for 2014. On July 24 and 25, a sports bar near the San Diego Convention Center will be host to hordes of conventioneers looking to escape the madness of Hall H with sneak previews of Geek and Sundry’s web content, games of both the board and video variety, and nightly dance parties.
Check out the announcement from Felicia Day (and a bunch of Godzillas):
Best of all, the lounge is open to all comers – no official SDCC registration required. Along with events like NerdHQ, the interactive Walking Dead experience, and the many other pop-up attractions around the convention center, it’s excellent consolation for anyone unable to score that oh-so-coveted convention badge.
Geek & Sundry is home to tons of nerd-friendly content on its YouTube channel, from reality shows like TableTop and Co-optitude to original series like Space Janitors and Spooked to DIY guides and vlogs for everything from cocktails to cosplay.
What would entice you to attend Comic-Con if you couldn’t get a badge? Let us know in the comments!
