DRACULA UNTOLD Trailer Sheds New Light on Vampire Myth

Ever since Bram Stoker’s classic tale of the enigmatic villain known as Dracula, we’ve been fascinated with him and his ilk. Dracula alone has been portrayed in popular culture since the 1920s, casting him mostly as the charismatic villain. This time around we’re getting an origin story in this first Dracula Untold trailer, starring Luke Evans as the tragic hero.

Directed by Gary Shore and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Dracula Untold follows the tale of Vlad III Țepeș (Evans). You may know him by another name: Vlad the Impaler. The movie seems to take place at the start of another crusade against the Ottoman Empire, a campaign in where Vlad gains the infamous moniker for his extreme cruelty. To protect his family and as his people, Vlad seeks out an ancient being (Charles Dance) who can give him the strength to defeat his enemies.

Other actors include Sarah Gadon (Belle) as Mirena, Dominic Cooper (Captain America) as Mehmed the Second, Samantha Barks (Les Misérables) as Baba Yaga, Charlie Cox (Stardust), Noah Huntley (Snow White and the Huntsman) as Captain Petru, and Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones) as Brother Lucian.

Just when you thought you were finally through with vampires, Dracula Untold seems to be pulling us back in! After all, this is the infamous king of all vampires. Out of any blood-sucker in the entire mythos, Dracula is the only one to have a few more tricks up his sleeve besides super speed, super strength, and the vampire version of the Jedi mind trick. Plus, we’re curious where Baba Yaga fits into all of this. And who is Charles Dance playing?!
