13 SINS Blu-ray Review – A Mind-Blowing Trip into Depravity
13 Sins is now available on Blu-ray. The film is directed by Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism) and stars Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), and Rutina Wesley (True Blood).
The film follows Elliot Brindle, who has been fired from his job, is drowning in debt and about to marry his pregnant fiancé. His father is about to be evicted from his home and his mentally challenged brother will soon have to move back in with his brother.
Elliot receives a mysterious call offering him the chance to make all of his troubles go away. If he completes 13 tasks he will be awarded $6 million. The challenges start off as mundane, but quickly becomemore and more disturbing. Elliot can stop any time, but will lose everything he has earned. He is caught between dealing with his gruesome actions and selling his soul for money.
13 Sins is not for the squeamish, with many scenes being difficult to watch. This is one of the most unique horror movies, which is not a sequel or supernatural. The film is similar to Cheap Thrills, another original horror film released this year.
The audio and video quality is standard fare for Blu-ray. The disc features a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and an 2.39:1 aspect ration. The sound mix allows for the action sequences and the scenes with heavy dialogue to be crystal clear.
