THE EVIL WITHIN Delayed to October
The Evil Within has been delayed from its original August 26 release date to October 21. Creator Shinji Mikami’s return to survival horror is better suited as a Halloween release than summer-fun filler anyway. With this announcement, the pre-order items were revealed alongside the new date.
Published by Bethesda Softworks and developed by Tokyo-based Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within is a return to form survival-horror game, harkening back to the glory days of Resident Evil 4 and a bloody splash of Silent Hill madness, slated for simultaneous release on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
With all the top-notch releases set for October, this game definitely has to fight for more attention. Being release so close to Batman: Arkham Knight and Dragon Age: Inquisition, I question the decision to push it back two months. Hopefully Alien: Isolation drums up a little more interest in survival-horror for The Evil Within to have a real fighting chance. This may also be a case where this niche genre may remain a gamble that we hope does better than breaking even. Either way, I’m still very interested to get my bloody hands on The Evil Within.
