Pixar’s INSIDE OUT – New Details Emerge
With this year’s The Good Dinosaur being delayed until next year, 2014 marks the first time since 2005 a new Pixar feature film won’t be released. To help tide the world over until 2015, when there will be two Pixar films, the animated studio has released details on its next film, Inside Out, due June 19, 2015.
Pixar’s been in a bit of a rut lately, with Cars 2, Brave and Monsters University all disappointing, at least creatively. Inside Out tells the story of Riley, an 11-year-old girl whose father has uprooted her from her Midwest life to San Francisco. Riley is guided by her emotions: Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). These emotions are housed in Headquarters, the control center for Riley’s mind. As Riley begins her new life in San Francisco, her emotions run wild, which surely causes all sorts of awkwardness to ensue.
With Pete Docter (Up, Monsters, Inc.) directing, Inside Out should be full of heart and fun, and maybe even good. Pixar hasn’t made anything noteworthy since 2010’s Toy Story 3, but with Docter in control and a comedic cast tailor-made for these characters, Inside Out looks like it could be the movie to end Pixar’s drought.
