New Zealand’s SKY TV #bringdowntheking
[Press Release, Giant Media (April 2, 2014)]

When the city is under siege, he cowers with the women.
As the food withers away, he orders one lavish wedding after another.
As winter approaches, the city has few friends.
We are cold. We are wet.
The wolves are at the door and a sadistic child sits on the throne.
He does not listen to the voice of his people. Let us make him hear it.

In anticipation for the new series of the world’s most popular show reaches fever pitch, SKY TV New Zealand have decided the time has come to give the people the one thing they all want – the chance to bring down King Joffrey and make him pay for his wrongs.

On April 3, Aucklanders will be surprised to find a giant 7m statue of Joffrey in their largest public square. As the statue gains attention in real life and online, a large, medieval winch will be attached to the statue, with a rope around Joffrey’s neck, along with the appearance of the hashtag #bringdowntheking.

From there, fans who’ve had enough of Joffrey’s nonsense can use the tag #bringdowntheking, and with each use of it, the rope will pull tighter around Joffrey’s head. It takes millions of voices to bring down a king, so anyone who wants to see him get his comeuppance is encouraged to lend their voice.
