Nate Wells Leaves Naughty Dog for Giant Sparrow
There’s yet another departure from Naughty Dog this year. This time it’s with Art Director Nate Wells, who last worked on The Last of Us. He announced his departure on April 20 over Twitter:
Hmmm….seem to be some threads here. Yes, I joined the wild, wacky, and ultimately brilliant folks at #GiantSparrow on April 3rd.

Giant Sparrow is a small game studio behind the popular indie game The Unfinished Swan, a game about a “young boy chasing after a swan who has wandered off into a surreal, unfinished kingdom.” Giant Sparrow is currently looking for specific positions to fill, likely for the “Unannounced Giant Sparrow Project” they’re currently working on.
“It’s not a sequel to The Unfinished Swan,” says the official website, “but it’s not a million miles away either. If you like surreal experiences and games that aren’t much like anything you’ve ever played before then you’ll probably like it.”
We’re guessing Wells is joining the team to work on said game.
This news comes at the wake of two other major departures, Amy Hennig, who has since joined EA’s Visceral Star Wars project, and Justin Richmond, who left Naughty Dog for Riot Games. Both creatives were part of the development team working on Uncharted 4, which is due to for released on the PS4.
