New Red Band SABOTAGE Trailer

The latest red band trailer for David Ayer’s Sabotage finally reveals what kind of film this will be. Yes, it’s a gritty actioner from the director of End of Watch. Yes, it’s a bit of a revenge tale. And yes, the film looks totally bad ass. But what does this trailer truly reveal about Sabotage?

It’s a sequel/remake, at least in spirit, of the 1985 classic Arnold Schwarenegger film, Commando.

Hear me out. Or read me out. Whichever. Arnold’s family has been kidnapped by bad guys who live South of the Border. Check. They want him to do very bad things, or they’ll kill Arnold’s family. Check. Arnold plays a character named John, who’s the best of the best at doing what he does, which, in every case, is killing people. Check. Big guns? Check. Awesome Schwarzenegger scream? Check. Go ahead. Watch the blood-soaked trailer below. Tell me I’m wrong.

You can’t.

Sure, Sabotage pairs Arnold up with a bunch of action stars (including Sam Worthington, Joe Manganiello, Terrence Howard, Josh Holloway and Mireille Enos), giving the old dog a breath of fresh air, but make no mistake: this is Arnold’s show. Hopefully it won’t be quite as cheesy as Commando, but with David Ayer running the show, that shouldn’t be an issue. Regardless, come March 28, Sabotage is going to bust onto the screen, in all of its Commando-like glory.

Be prepared.

Ryan Hill used to spend his time writing screenplays into a notebook instead of doing homework. That love of film and all things storytelling led him to spend most of his time writing. He's been a film critic in North Carolina for over five years, and his debut novel, THE BOOK OF BART, is out now. Please buy it. Ryan also feels odd about referring to himself in the third person.
