PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES Drops New Trailer
Let’s be quite, quite honest. Paranormal Activity’s long outstayed it’s welcome.
The first film, released in 2007, was a refreshing, if not familiar take on found-footage horror flick, which received a notable 83% on Rotten Tomatoes and took in over $200 mil at the box office. In comparison, the three that followed received lukewarm to downright damning critical responses. The fourth instalment of the series, Paranormal Activity 4, received only a 25% approval rating on RT.
But the considerable box office results the series have grossed so far appear to beincentive for Paramount Pictures to fund a fifth flick.
(Hokily) titled Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, the 1:42 minute trailer shows partygoers creeping into an apartment downstairs with a camera, after learning of it’s occupants death. Jesse, who receives unidentified bite marks presumably because of his adventuring, later begins to display supernatural strength and questionable mutations.
“This is not a gift,” the trailer warns. “This is not an accident.” Returning to the original material, it’s revealed that Jesse’s been chosen as a host for demons similar to those that possessed Kristi and Katie. There’s footage of blank-eyed girls. The requisite exorcism. Further puppets. Angel imagery.
All in all, there’s little that new. But for the already converted, it ought to be quite a treat.
