Explained: Every Reference in THE SIMPSONS “Treehouse of Horror” Opening by Guillermo del Toro

The highlight of nearly every season of The Simpsons is the fantastic Halloween themed episode, “Treehouse of Horror”. This year was no exception, but the true highlight of the half-hour was the 3-minute long opening credit sequence by beloved genre director Guillermo del ToroWhile he was originally approached to just include references to his films, he decided to instead spread the wealth and take on some of the most iconic (and some obscure) horror references.
