This Week in Music Releases – October 8, 2013

Captain on the bridge!  In Unexpected Music Releases this week, William Shatner makes his big splash in progressive rock with a new conceptual album, spotlighting his songwriting skills.

Ponder the Mystery is Shatner’s fourth album, featuring a host of famous collaborators, including Vince Gill and The Doors’ Robby Krieger.

After several years of shuffling band members and exploring new musical styles, Panic! at the Disco is back with a new album, Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die! this week.

This new album promises an homage to the band’s Las Vegas roots, along with the band’s signature lyricism.

Reissues and vinyls of interest this week include Pearl Jam’s Backspacer reissue and the vinyl of Gently Down Your Stream by ’70s soul quartet the Four Mints.

Happy listening!
