5 Things We’re Excited For at New York Comic-Con
Editor’s Note: We’re headed to New York Comic-Con for the first time! Our fantastic team of writers at the con includes Merrill Barr, Michael O’Brien, and Jason Tabrys. Check out what we’re excited to see at the con.
In no particular order:
1. The Walking Dead Panel
Andrew Lincoln will be there and ain’t he just the hunkiest zombie slayer ever? Norman Reedus will be there. Steven Yuen will be there. The season premiere is coming up Sunday, October 13th. Yes, the Sunday of Con. Thank god for DVR.
According to Comic Con’s website, “The panelists will be on hand to discuss the upcoming fourth season of the series as well as introduce an official, never before seen, sneak preview”. The website then notes, “Content and language in this panel may not be suitable for children”. So on that note and with hearty enthusiasm about The Walking Dead, Fuck Yes!
2. George Romero
Words cannot express what effect this man’s presence has on film, genre, and a convention center full of fanboys, myself included. The Granddaddy of them all will be joining the Marvel: Cup O’ Joe panel to discuss his “all-new limited series event Empire of the Dead”. The line for this one should stretch for miles.
3. Gillian Anderson & David Duchovny Talk X-Files
NYCC’s website tells us that the duo will “reunite and take the stage and discuss their days as Agents Mulder & Scully and their time on the popular show”. However, I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say that I hope there’s a big announcement on the horizon. Whether it’s a new film or a reboot series, I don’t care. More X-Files, please.
4. Patrick Stewart and William Shatner
A recent addition to Con, Patrick Stewart will be present for autographing and photo-ops along with William Shatner. Two of the finest Captains in Star Fleet history. If you are going make sure to line up early. Like really early. Are you in line yet? No? Sorry, you’re too late. Shatner will be there on Saturday and Sunday, while Stewart will only be around on Sunday morning.
According to NYCC’s website: Showrunners, a new documentary film that takes the audience behind the scenes, into the writers’ room and on set with candid interviews with 20 of today’s top showrunners”.
Fellow Screen Invasion writer Merrill Barr will be covering this panel for us and our EiC spoke with the producers at SDCC, so there’s plenty of love for Showrunners here. But it’s important to mention that Ronal D. Moore will be in attendance. Frak yes, nuggets! The man who brought us the fantastic revival of Battlestar Galactica. So keep an eye out for Merrill’s coverage of this highly anticipated panel.
