Valve Announces Steam Machines
Here it is, Valve’s second piece of news (out of three scheduled for this week) to follow up their announcement of the SteamOS. Valve reveals that they are partnering with several companies in developing hardware they’re naming Steam Machines.
Entertainment is not a one-size-fits-all world. We want you to be able to choose the hardware that makes sense for you, so we are working with multiple partners to bring a variety of Steam gaming machines to market during 2014, all of them running SteamOS.
But wait, there’s more. Steam Machines, while currently still in development, are scheduled to be released to the public sometime early next year; however, a lucky few will be able to beta test some of the machines this year. Valve is releasing 300 boxes for free to Steam users for testing. Want to make sure you become eligible for testing? All you have to do is add yourself to the list of candidates by filling out the Eligibility Quest on Steam. Easy peasy.
