D23 Expo ’13: MUPPETS MOST WANTED Presentation

Right after the Disney Nature presentation, we were given a sneak peek into the latest Muppets movie: Muppets Most Wanted. Actor and writer Jason Segal brought the Muppets back in his 2011 hit film, The Muppets, and our favorite puppets are back with some of TV’s most notable stars joining them!

The story of the film sounds like it will be a great one. Constantine is the most infamous and wanted criminal thief in the world, and he just so happens to have a striking resemblance to our favorite frog Kermit! While much of the film’s plot wasn’t revealed, it seems like there will be a mixup where the police grab the wrong frog, leaving Constantine and his sidekick, Ricky Gervais, to blend in with the Muppets!

Joining the cast are former SNL cast member and 30 Rock star Tina Fey, and Modern Family star Ty Burrell, who plays a french police officer. To no one’s surprise, some of the funniest moments of the trailer and clip they showed were when Burrell was on stage, and the man himself joined us in the exhibit hall! In fact, he drove on stage in his comically small car, which makes a smart car look like an 18 wheeler!

While Burrell was the only actor or puppet from the movie who joined us, they did play a video message from London with Ms. Piggy, Kermit, and Tina Fey!

The songs in the film are written by Brett McKenzie, who wrote the Oscar winning song, Muppet or a Man, from the previous Muppets movie. We were also treated to a brand new song from this movie, performed by Constantine and Gervais. I was never a huge Muppets fan growing up, but I’m excited for this one!

In case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the teaser trailer for Muppets Most Wanted:
