Ben Foster to Star in Stephen Frears’ LANCE ARMSTRONG
Lance Armstrong is someone that you either love or hate. Hollywood is showing him a lot of love so to speak lately. Deadline reports that Ben Foster (The Mechanic) is set to play Lance Armstrong in Stephen Frears’ biopic about the cyclist. The story is penned by John Hodge, and will cover Armstrong’s career through the doping scandal.
This is the second movie about Lance Armstrong in the works. Paramount and Bad Robot are making a film based on the upcoming book Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong by the New York Times’ sports reporter Juliet Macur. Book rights have been picked up by J.J. Abrams, Paramount and Bryan Burk for the book being published by Harper Collins. Warner Bros also has a Lance Armstrong film in the works titled Cycle of Lies, based on Juliet Macur’s non-fiction book about Armstrong’s doping scandal during his times at Tour de France.
I think that Ben Foster is a great choice for the role. He is a versatile actor as can be seen in roles such as The Messenger, 3:10 To Yuma, and Pandorum. I think by the time that Hollywood churns out each of these films that audiences will be a tad tired of Lance Armstrong. What say you?
