Carey Mulligan May Play Hillary Clinton in RODHAM
Carey Mulligan could portray Hillary Clinton in a new indie biopic called Rodham. Variety reports that Mulligan (The Great Gatsby) has not signed officially, but has risen to the top of the casting list. Director James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now) is set to meet with Mulligan.
Rodham is based on a Black List script penned by Young Il Kim. The story is “set during the height of the Watergate scandal when Rodham was the youngest lawyer chosen for the House Judiciary Committee to Impeach Nixon. She soon found herself forced to choose between a path to the White House and her unresolved feelings for Bill Clinton, her former boyfriend who was teaching law in Arkansas.”
Carey Mulligan was fantastic in Shame and Drive, so I am interested in seeing her in just about any movie. Now that I think about it, she would be wonderful as Clinton. The project is still looking for a home, which Mulligan could help with. It is currently being produced by Richard Arlook of the Arlook Group and Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey at Temple Hill Entertainment.
