The Peppercorn Chronicles has landed a great cast with Jodelle Ferland (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Silent Hill), Noah Ringer (Cowboys & AliensThe Last Airbender), and Michael Eklund (The Call) as leads for the project. Keep reading to learn all about the new film.

Here is an official press release about The Peppercorn Chronicles:

British filmmaker Mike Le Han (MLH) has attached three high-profile leads for his epic teen indie feature THE PEPPERCORN CHRONICLES, a script loosely based on Le Han and his wife/creative collaborator Helen Le Han’s award-winning fantasy short film Mrs. Peppercorn’s Magical Reading Room. MLH and his UK-based production partners Black Lake LFP have attached Jodelle Ferland (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Silent Hill), Noah Ringer (Cowboys & AliensThe Last Airbender), and Michael Eklund (The Call) as leads for the project.

MLH co-wrote THE PEPPERCORN CHRONICLES script with Helen and sold the franchise rights in late 2011 to acclaimed UK crime author Martina Cole’s production company Black Lake LFP who will produce alongside MLH and Martina Cole will executive produce. Cole is the author of 19 best-selling novels set in London which include ‘The Ladykiller’, ‘The Take’ which was adapted into a television drama series starring Tom Hardy and her latest ‘The Life’. MLH and Cole hope THE PEPPERCORN CHRONICLES film can spawn a trilogy.

THE PEPPERCORN CHRONICLES is a teen fantasy story in the vein of Twilight and Harry Potter that follows Eloise a teenage girl who moves to Black Lake with her parents. After meeting Sam Libby the local bakery owner’s son, Eloise discovers dark secrets that slowly reveal she could be the key to saving humanity.

Production is anticipated to begin in February 2014 throughout the U.S. and in Hungary.

Mrs. Peppercorn’s Magical Reading Room the short film amassed a cult following online and won a number of festival awards. The 24-minute short won Best Short Film at the HollyShorts Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2011, and Best Trailer for an un-produced Movie at the International Movie Trailer Festival. It also won Best Short Film-Children’s Jury Award at the 2011 Olympia International Film Festival in Greece. The short had its premiere at BAFTA in London and a private screening at Disney Animation Studios.

Commented MLH: “It’s truly exciting to see THE PEPPERCORN CHRONICLES feature film take shape with Jodelle Ferland, Noah Ringer, and Michael Ecklund all coming on board our magical journey. The Peppercorn franchise continues to evolve and we are really looking forward to rounding out the final touches and starting production on this film early next year.”

With ambitions to also helm major franchise properties and penned as a creator of worlds, MLH has moved to Los Angeles to meet with studios and financiers. He is currently out with Static, a time travelling sci-fi script that’s generated a great deal of heat.
