FAST & FURIOUS 6 Spoilers Forum: What Did You Think?
The Fast & Furious franchise is truly something special. Featuring the most diverse cast of any major blockbuster film, including strong men and women, and also just being a truly fun viewing experience have contributed to their continued success. This weekend the sixth installment crashes into theaters, creatively titled Fast & Furious 6, and I for one was not disappointed. In our third installment of the Spoilers Forum, let’s dig in this action movie – flaws, fun, and all!
Our regular movie review will go up soon, but in the mean time, we want to know what our readers thought of it!
Warning: Fast & Furious 6 spoilers below! Keep reading at your own risk.
With Shaw constantly a step ahead, you had to know someone was a turn coat and supplying him the information from the inside. However, when it was revealed that it was Hobb’s new partner Riley (Gina Carano), it wasn’t that impactful. She’s new, barely developed, and Carano’s stoic delivery doesn’t really help you connect with her before the big reveal. However, her hand-to-hand combat with Lettie (Michelle Rodriguez) was pretty awesome and having them fight, first as cop vs. criminal and then again with the roles reversed was heart-pumping, brutal, and awesome. What did you think of the mole reveal?
One of my favorite elements of the Fast & Furious franchise is Han Solo (Sung Kang). It’s far too rare that an Asian male gets to not only be a major character in a film, but also be sexy, smart, desirable and have actual romantic ties. Han’s fate has always been doomed, since he dies in the who-knows-when-this-takes-place Fast & Furious: Toyko Drift. Well, looks like his time was up this time. He got a solid storyline with his relationship with Gisele (Gal Gadot) that of course was too good to last. She went out saving his life, but didn’t feel properly mourned since we get roughly 30 seconds to wrap up everything after the final action scene (that’s only a minor exaggeration). And of course Han isn’t mourned yet since his death was in the final credits scene, but it seems we could be in store for nice vengeance tale when the crew find out Jason Statham’s still unknown villain behind his death. I’ll miss Han but am excited to see where they go in Fast & Furious 7.
Overall, I truly enjoyed the film – actions, impossibilities in physics, cheesy one-liners, and all.
