FAST & FURIOUS 6 Movie Review
Well I pretty much knew what to expect when I walked into Fast & Furious 6, and the movie turned out to be…exactly what I expect: awesome car and action porn. While Fast & Furious 6 didn’t add a ton to the franchise plot wise, it did answer a few questions from previous movies and looking to the future, while providing another fantastically over the top and entertaining action packed film that will likely lead to another installment next summer.
One of the biggest questions leading into this movie would be Brian (Paul Walker) and Mia’s (Jordana Brewster) baby. Well that is the first thing addressed as Brian and Dom (Vin Diesel) race to the hospital to see the new born. Shortly after, Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) tracks Dom down and shows him that Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) is still alive. So now it’s time to go to Russia and track her down!
From this point on, the plot doesn’t really matter. Letty has suffered from amnesia, and doesn’t remember her life before the accident that “killed” her. She has now teamed up with Shaw (Luke Evans) who provides for quite the villain. He reminded me more of a classic Die Hard villain more so then a Fast and Furious villain, as he is very sophisticated and always one step ahead of the team. Dom’t team is chasing Shaw the entire movie, leading to just a few action scenes.
Now let’s talk about those action scenes. They are pretty awesome. What’s interesting about Fast & Furious 6 is that there are more close camera, fist fighting action sequences in this film then any other. In fact, there may be even more hand to hand fight scenes then your classic car race bits that we are so used to. However, we still have those, and there are some downright ridiculous parts, including Dom jumping across a bridge to catch Letty, who is flying through the air after getting knocked off a tank. It’s just as crazy stupid awesome as it sounds.
The final scene on the airstrip brings the movie full circle, and provides for quite an entertaining and twisted ending. I will keep this review spoiler free, but if you have seen it, and would like to sound off, check out our spoiler forum here! I do have to spill the beans on one particular secret that we see in the end credits. All I will say is….Jason Statham. React.
Fast & Furious 6 is another solid installment of a franchise that is gaining more notoriety and fans by the movie. As you would expect, some of the dialogue is hilariously bad (the interactions between Vin Diesel and The Rock are genius), but that doesn’t matter, as the action makes up for it and then some. If you’ve loved this franchise before, then this movie will be no different. If it’s not really your thing, then this probably isn’t the movie to go see.
