PROJECT ETERNITY First In-Game Footage

PROJECT ETERNITY, the Kickstarter marvel that pulled in $3.9 million, posted its first in game footage yesterday on their YouTube account. It’s not gameplay, but rather environment art that includes glorious art, dynamic lighting, a waterfall with rising water and… and… OH FACK MY PANTS.

Check out the PROJECT ETERNITY video below:

I think my favorite part of the video is when it first seems like Josh Sawyer is doing an intervention by Skype. “Listen viewer, everyone as Obsidian is here because we love you. You have a problem with playing too many brown corridor shooters and bland reboots. Look at this fantasy character running around this ACTUAL 2D Unity image and not suffer a major aneurysm. LOOK AT THIS SHIT.”

“I CONJURED THIS GAME WITH NECROMANCY AND BRAWN. BEHOLD AND WEEP!”

That is the face of madness. For being completely 2D art, with zero 3D geometry, I’m still trying to wrap my tiny reptilian brain around the dynamic lighting renders. PROJECT ETERNITY is currently under development by Obsidian Entertainment with a tentative Spring 2014 release date. Check out more on this too-cool-for-old-school RPG at their homepage.
