BRAVE’s Merida Officially a Disney Princess

While Brave’s Merida was obviously a princess, and in a Disney movie, she was not officially a Disney princess. There are 10 official princesses, who are heavily featured in cross-film events in the parks and in cartoons. In case you’re not a Disney obsessive who can rattle these ladies off at the drop of a hat – the other princesses are Snow White, Mulan, Aurora, Belle, Tiana, Ariel, Cinderella, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Rapunzel.
Disney and Pixar had a massive success on their hands with Brave. Not only did it make a good amount of money in theaters, it also created a successful merchandising line with its red-headed beauty and the cute baby bears and an Academy Award for Best Animated Picture.
According to Inside the Magic (via /Film), Merida, the star of the film, will officially be coronated as the 11th Princess in a ceremony in Orlando on May 11 at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. To celebrate her official induction, Disney has debuted a new look for the character.
