Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado’s vividly violent, psychological thriller explores how far men will go for justice when the law fails to provide it.

When they kidnap and torture a man suspected of sickening and sexually-violent crimes against young girls (Rotem Keinan), one victim’s father (Tzahi Grad) and a rogue-but-fundamentally-principled cop (Lior Ashkenazi) face this very quandary. As the hours pass, each captor attempts to come to terms with his own personal demons and decides what price he’s prepared to pay for retribution–or so he thinks. But, when unforeseen complications arise, both captors are inescapably doomed to be forever haunted by the shocking consequences of their actions.

Even Big Bad Wolves‘ horror-comedy-like dialogue and humorous comedy-of-errors-interruptions do not diminish its mesmerizing terror. Exacerbated by a slasher-flick soundtrack, the film’s tempo creates a unique emotional ride for the audience, who comes to relish the brief comic respites and be all the more stunned by sudden returns to the dark side.

A mind-f–k for true fans of the genre, this tale of heinous horror will haunt the dark recesses of your psyche for long after the credits roll.
