THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN Pushed to December 2014

The Hobbit: There And Back Again has a new release date. The film was slated to arrive in theaters on July 18, 2014,  but New Line Cinema and MGM have now been moved the release date to December 17, 2014. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was a box office success this holiday season, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug both have December release dates. With the first film doing well this past holiday, it makes sense that the studio has decided on the date change.

The December release helps distance it from Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past in July. December 17 has The Hobbit: There and Back Again arriving just two days before Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me spinoff, Minions and Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland.

I enjoyed The Hobbit, and am looking forward to seeing both of the upcoming films. Be sure to read our review of The Hobbit here.
