HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: “Bad Crazy” Episode Recap
Well the time has finally come. After eight seasons, constant teases, and girl, after girl, after girl, How I Met Your Mother has finally introduced us to……the woman Ted dates before he meets the mother. Yup, we have to put up with one more installment of “who’s that bitch?” on HIMYM. This time, it’s Jeanette (Abby Elliot), who basically plays a legit crazy person who locks herself in Ted’s (Josh Radnor) room after the two “break up” the night before.
The episode basically divides amongst the boys and the girls. The boys are dealing with Jeanette at Ted’s place, while the girls are out to lunch with baby Marvin. However, trouble arises when Lily (Alyson Hannigan) realizes she left Marvin’s pacifier on the bus. This is a problem because Robin (Cobie Smulders), who has a fear of babies, has yet to hold him. When he starts crying, she has no choice but to pick him up. Or does she? We will get back to her later.
Marshall (Jason Segal) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), help Ted deal with Jeanette by giving him a custom Boba Fett costume. Ok…awesome by the way. Eventually, Ted reveals that despite the crazy red flags that Jeanette is throwing up there, he finds it oddly attractive, as he can’t keep his hands off of her. Ultimately, the group concludes that she is so crazy because Ted is pretty crazy himself. While the story doesnt’ wrap up in this episode, we do know that finally, the next girl he dates, will be the mom.
Back to Robin and Lily, this story ends on a great note. Throughout the episode, Robin confesses more and more things to Lily about that day, presented in flash forwards of the two enjoying wine over the years. Robin reveals that not only did she let a stranger console Marvin, not only did she let his stroller loose in the street, but that they also went to a strip club. And at the very end, the final confession is that it was not an old lady the whole time. In fact, it was Mike Tyson. Again…..awesome by the way.
I liked this episode. Sure, it was another throwaway in a long list of throwaways, but the Boba Fett and Mike Tyson jokes were awesome, and overall, the episode had a feel to it much like some of the older ones. Now the countdown is on. The wedding has to be this season, meaning the big reveal could happen soon! Also, get excited for this.
