Gary Oldman to star in DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has gotten a bit of class. ComingSoon reports that Gary Oldmn has joined the cast of the Matt Reeves sequel. Gary Oldman joins Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, and Kodi Smit-McPhee. The Dark Knight star will play the leader of the remaining humans. Mark Bomback penned the script for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The film starts production this spring for a May 23, 2014 release.

The film is set 15 years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes, after the human race has been decimated and an intelligent group of apes is ruling over the world. It is reported that part of the story revolves around “a small group of San Francisco-based scientists that are forming a resistance against the apes.” The other part focuses on Serkis’ Caesar as he attempts to maintain order and power within his new civilization.

I love Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon in the Dark Knight Trilogy, but will always love him from his role in The Professional. He starred as a gangster in Lawless this summer and can be seen Robert Luketic‘s Paranoia and Jose Padilha‘s RoboCop.

What do you think of Gary Oldman joining Dawn of the Planet of the Apes?
