4 Must-See Movies in February

We know not everyone has time for every major release or big movie, so instead of featuring 10 great films a month, these are truly the ones that cannot be missed this February. They’ll either be films coming out in theaters that week or something on Netflix I think that’s worth the watch. February has some really interesting releases – a mixture of sci-fi, drama, comedy and horror. I don’t have a selection for the last week in February, so for that week I say catch up on something from one of my previous must-see features.

If you do check out anything I’ve spotlighted or think I left off a crucial film, tell us about it in the comments section below!

Week 1 Must-See Movie: Warm Bodies

Out in theaters on February 1st, it’s directed by Johnathan Levine and stars Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Analeigh Tipton, Dave Franco, Rob Corddry and John Malkovich. It’s a funny and quirky look at a zombie falling in love and coming back into human form.

Official Synopsis:

A funny new twist on a classic love story, ‘Warm Bodies’ is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

Week 2 Must-See Movie: Identity Thief

Out in theaters on February 8th, it’s directed by Seth Gordon and stars Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy, John Cho, Amanda Peet, John Favreau, and Clarke Duke. Judging from the trailers that have been out, this definitely looks like it’ll be a funny film!

Official Synopsis:

Horrible Bosses’ Jason Bateman and Bridesmaids’ Melissa McCarthy lead the cast of Identity Thief, an all-star comedy in which a regular guy is forced to extreme measures to clear his name. With everything to lose after his identity is stolen, he’ll find out how crazed you can get trying to settle a bad credit score.

Week 3 Must-See Movie: Safe Haven

Out in theaters on February 14th, it’s directed by Lasse Hallstrom and stars John Duhamel, Julianne Hough, Noah Lomax, Mimi Kirkland, and Cobie Smulders. ATTENTION GUYS it’s Valentine’s Day, what better way to spend it with your girlfriend at the theaters watching a movie based on a Nicholas Sparks book? After, you can walk into A Good Day to Die Hard.

Official Synopsis:

An affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again, Safe Haven is based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, the best-selling author behind the hit films The Notebook and Dear John. When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.

Week 4 Must-See Movie: Dark Skies

Out in theaters on February 22th, it’s directed by Scott Stewart and stars Keri Russell, Dakota Goyo, Josh Hamilton, Annie Thurman, and Trevor St. John. This movie looks incredibly creepy, so here’s to it being scary and a great horror film!

Official Synopsis:

From the producer of Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and Sinister comes Dark Skies: a supernatural thriller that follows a young family living in the suburbs. As husband and wife Daniel and Lacey Barret witness an escalating series of disturbing events involving their family, their safe and peaceful home quickly unravels. When it becomes clear that the Barret family is being targeted by an unimaginably terrifying and deadly force, Daniel and Lacey take matter in their own hands to solve the mystery of what is after their family.
