One of the most anticipated movies of 2013 has finally shown some footage! They’ve been very tightlipped about Star Trek Into Darkness, only just releasing a vaguely worded plot synopsis last week, so I know I’ve been hungry for a sneak peak. This one minute video is a just teaser for the full 2-minute trailer that will debut in front of The Hobbit in a couple weeks and is nothing compared to the 9 minutes of footage that will air before The Hobbit in true IMAX screenings.

Watch the teaser trailer:

Also, the Japanese trailer is 15 seconds longer,  in English with subtitles. It seems to suggest that the villain is Khan, yet there’s no confirmation on that. See for yourself:

This is a much darker tone compared to the first Star Trek film from J.J. Abrams. Benedict Cumberbatch is all kinds of menacing in his voice over and it looks like will tons of destruction by his hands. Can’t wait to see the full trailer soon!

Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters on May 17, 2013.
