THE SANTA CLAUSE – 12 Days of Christmas Countdown

The Santa Clause was by far my favorite Christmas movie growing up. I used to love Home Improvement so when I saw Tim the Toolman Taylor (Tim Allen) was playing a guy who becomes Santa, I couldn’t have been happier. No lie, I literally used to watch this movie everyday before I would go to sleep from the ages of 6 till at least 10-years-old. Year round I might add. That’s definitely embarrassing to admit but I need you to understand just how much I loved and still love Christmas.

Tim Allen plays a business minded character named Scott Calvin. Scott is one of those guys who are fully focused on their career instead of finding that balance between work and family. He is divorced with one child, Charlie played by Eric Lloyd. Charlie comes to spend Christmas Eve, to his dismay, with his father. Scott tries his hardest to entertain and please Charlie but that proves impossible. Shortly after hitting the sack, they hear a noise up on the rooftop. Who could it be?! Scott and Charlie run outside and discover a jolly fat man in a red suit on their roof accompanied by 8 reindeer and a sleigh. It was Santa! Santa becomes startled by Scott and Charlie and reluctantly falls from the rooftop. Is Santa dead?! Well, no, not exactly. The guy who has been Santa for the past however many years has now ended his duties as the North Pole dwelling caregiver. Scott finds a card in Santa’s red jacket which says, “If something should happen to me, put on my suit. The reindeer will know what to do.” Of course, Charlie is gung-ho about getting into Santa’s sleigh while Scott is very skeptical. Scott evens starts to think this may all be a dream. By the end of the night, he and Charlie have delivered all the toys and have been taken to the North Pole. The North Pole looks like everything a child has ever dreamed up in their minds. Toys everywhere, elves hard at work, reindeer and cookies! Okay, let’s just say the North Pole is awesome. The rest of the film is the year following when Scott thinks this Santa adventure is all just a bad dream he and Charlie happen to have shared.

Seriously, I cannot explain how much I love this movie. See it! Show it to your friends and family! Need more convincing? Check out this trailer from the movie:
